The Earth Dwellers: Revelation as Revolt

Greetings. Earth Dwellers was released in August 2011. You may order at CreateSpace or Amazon.com. This is the beginning of several books I am writing on the Book of Revelation. It is a character-driven study (with exposition of selected passages in Revelation pertinent to the character being studied). The basic chronological flow that John presented in Revelation is honored and adds insight into what each character is trying to show or tell us.

John, the author of Revelation, pulls together several strands of prophetic thought from several books in the Old Testament. But he does not present this information in a boring or sterile way. Instead, John weaved all of this information into an exciting, powerful, and highly visual story with stunning characters in a great plot. That is what I want to focus on in this series of books. The major characters tell the story best. If we understand them, we understand the story. The Earth Dwellers: Revelation as Revolt will lead the series. Many more books will follow.

Here are the upcoming books in this series (this is not the exact order that they will be released however and the titles might vary or be renamed from what is listed here).

Here’s How The Books Work

Sometimes in a movie, the movie director will show you glimpses of the end and then go back and back-fill…  The first book (Earth Dwellers) works that way…presenting the underlying theme of rebellion and how it all ends.

The rest of the books fill in the backstory until we arrive at the end again, where it all started… with rebellion and self-will.

I’ve endeavored to keep the series biblically driven (expositional) as well as illustrated well (you’ll see this in the second book especially), and somewhat anecedotal (personal experiences woven in).

The Lion Lamb

I am happy to announce that my next book (The Lion Lamb) is on schedule to release in October, 2011. This is the second book of the series. It is a bit heftier than the first book (double the pages). Yet, every page is so essential to presenting this leading character in John’s story.

If by chance you missed the first book, you will be just fine in reading this one for now. The books all stand alone. However, if you read them sequentially, then a picture begins to emerge in your understanding of Revelation. It all starts coming together by the time we reach the end of the story.

The Way Books Should Work

I have been thinking. All books should really have a blog associated with them. When a book is written and presents many different ideas, part of the learning process is being able to dialogue with the author of the book. For multiple-books, this could get very busy for the author. However, the beautiful thing about blogging is that it is at everyone’s convenience and people can learn from each others questions, without having to follow a rigid learning schedule.

By setting things up this way, all who care to, can become a life-long learner. Learning should not be restricted to Bible College or Seminary students. It should be available and accessible by all. That’s what this new series of books proposes. Not only will each book deliver great content, be illustrated by engaging stories, and set the reader up to apply what has been learned, but they will continue to be a learning tool for all those who read them and who want to continue to explore their thoughts and ideas.

A book begins the discussion. But, its only the beginning. The rest is up to you.

Names Written in the Book of Life

Some have shared that they have  never thought of the concept that we are ALL saved by Christ, and therefore are included in the Book of Life, BUT that we can have our name blotted out of the Book. Most of us think that we are on the OUTSIDE and when we accept Christ, we are then on the INSIDE of eternal life. However, as I share in my book, it could be the other way around. We are already on the INSIDE of life eternal the moment we are conceived. It is through Christ’s mighty work that the entire world has been saved.  But, we can also OPT OUT of God’s plan and provision. The gift of life eternal will not be forced on to anyone. That’s what free will is about.

Salvation has two aspects. Objectively, all have been saved. The work of Christ provided forgiveness for all of us. Then, there is the subjective aspects. We must all personally apply Christ’s saving work. This is called conversion. It is imperative to respond to the Gospel when we hear it proclaimed. When we do, we are justified Paul said. If we reject it, we are OPTING OUT. There is no other way to be saved. We can refuse God’s only provision. And if we do, the Bible does not give us any grounds to offer assurance of salvation to those who persist throughout an entire lifetime of saying “No” to Christ’s work on their behalf.

Bear in mind that all people will be held accountable for what they know of God. Paul said if we have nature, then even we are without excuse. God expects us to respond positively to Him, regardless of our level of light or insight.

Reviews Coming In

Reviews are starting to come in. The overwhelming response is that this first book in the series is a “fresh, new approach” to the Book of Revelation.

If you have read Earth Dwellers, please take a moment to log your review at amazon.

A review helps others to know if they too might like the book.

The book does have a “Look Inside” feature on amazon. However, it only shows a few pages. So your review would be helpful to others, I’m sure.

The book naturally generates a lot of discussion. It is ideal for small groups or church discussion groups.

Questions can be asked on this blog should you run into a snag or need additional guidance related to the book’s contents.

The Lion Lamb: Revelation as War Releasing – Fall 2011

The Lion Lamb is the hero of the Book of Revelation. On one hand, He is a Slain Lamb who was sacrificed for all Earth Dwellers (see the first book in this series – The Earth Dwellers: Revelation As Revolt), so that they might all become a follower and lover of the Throne Sitter. On the other hand, He is a mighty Lion who will return to this planet, destroy the rebellion, and set up a Kingdom. This is His story.
